Despite repeated claims by politicians and mainstream media outlets that Ukraine is winning its conflict with Russia, Democratic presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. believes otherwise. He noted that Russia views the war as an existential threat to the continued existence of the state, hence why it can’t afford to lose.
Kennedy pointed this out during the 127th episode of the “All-In Podcast,” wherein he extrapolated his firm anti-war position regarding Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine. (Related: RFK Jr. nails it, exposes all the lies Americans are being told about Russia’s war in Ukraine.)
“The Russians cannot lose this war. We are being told they are losing, but they cannot afford to lose this war. This is existential for them,” said Kennedy. “This is the most violent conflict since World War II, probably anywhere in the world, and the casualties are enormous. Over 300,000 Ukrainian dead. The Russians are killing Ukrainians, depending on who you believe, at a ratio of five-to-one.”
“This is something that the United States government and Ukrainian government have worked hard to hide – the number of casualties, which has been catastrophic,” he added.
Kennedy said it is in the interest of the governments of both Ukraine and the United States for the war to continue, as this is the only way to first exhaust the Russian Armed Forces and then bring about regime change in Moscow.
“My understanding of the war is that Zelensky is pushing this war as hard as he can, but that the neocons [neoconservatives] in the White House want this war,” said Kennedy. “They want regime change with the Russians. They want to exhaust the Russian Army.”
In multiple interviews and statements, Kennedy has pointed out that his solution to the conflict in Ukraine is very simple: He would open negotiations with Russia.
“Diplomacy has never really been tried,” wrote Kennedy on a section of his campaign’s website entitled “peace.”
“We will offer to withdraw our troops and nuclear-capable missiles from Russia’s borders,” he added, arguing that such a move would entice Russia to withdraw its own troops from at least some of the contested parts of Ukraine.
Following the withdrawal, United Nations peacekeepers will then be sent in to guarantee peace, especially for the Russian-speaking people in the eastern Donbas region.
“The Russians have repeatedly offered to settle. If you look at the Minsk accords, which the Russians offered to settle for, they look like a really good deal today,” said Kennedy. “Let’s be honest: It’s a U.S. war against Russia, to essentially sacrifice the flower of Ukrainian youth in an abattoir of death and destruction for the geopolitical ambition of the neocons, oft-stated, of regime change for Vladimir Putin and exhausting the Russian military so that they can’t fight anywhere else in the world.”
The Minsk Agreement, initially agreed upon in 2014 with the mediation of Europe, and signed again in 2015 after Ukraine broke the tenets of the agreement, is “the best settlement for this war,” according to Kennedy.
Despite the people of the Donbas voting to secede from Ukraine and join Russia, Putin and his government at the time rejected their offer and argued for coming to an agreement with Kyiv wherein the two regions of the Donbas – Donetsk and Luhansk – would be turned into autonomous regions with special rights, similar to how a state in America operates.
“I would settle this war,” said Kennedy. “Ukraine cannot fight without U.S. support.”
