Whether you choose to accept it or not, there are signs all around us that our country is in the beginning stages of societal decay. Radical activist groups like Black Lives Matter are becoming more and more prominent, fueling the flames of the already heightened racial tensions in the United States. Riots on college campuses are also becoming more common as liberal students learn that they can shut down conservative speech by simply threatening chaos and violence. On top of all this is the fact that the left has waged an all-out war on law enforcement in this country, and are endlessly working to not only discredit them, but also to make their jobs more difficult. If we allow these things to continue, then it’s only a matter of time before society crumbles like a house of cards.
To prepare for this day, whether it arrives next week or one hundred years from now, millions of people across the country have spent copious amounts of time and money on things like underground bunkers, food, firearms and ammunition. These people, called preppers, will undoubtedly be the ones who will not only survive but flourish after society collapses. But in addition to being well prepared, it’s also essential that you know what to do — and perhaps more importantly, what not to do — in a world where the rule of law is nonexistent.
It should come as common sense, but in the event that society is no more and massive riots are breaking out all around you, one of the last things you want to do is stick out like a sore thumb. If, for example, the riots mostly consist of radical leftists, it wouldn’t be a good idea to make it known that your household is harboring a conservative. You may find it tempting to show public signs of support for whatever it is that the people are rioting against, such as the police or the president, but in the end, it’s just not worth the potentially harmful consequences.
If your goal is to stay under the radar and avoid confrontation, sometimes it is best to just spend as much time in your home as you possibly can. Of course, there are going to be times when you have to go outside, whether it’s for a supply run or to bolster the exterior of your home, but other than that, you really should try to spend most of your time indoors.
No matter how hard you try to blend in and stay under the radar, you may very well find yourself in a situation where it’s necessary to defend yourself. Try to clear out all of the corridors in your house to minimize the number of objects there are for your attacker to take cover behind. Also be sure that your home is equipped with a backup escape route, such as a rope ladder hanging off of a second-floor window, so that you can make a quick getaway if a mob of rioters set fire to your house. Having a stockpile of firearms and ammunition ready to use is also helpful, and could even mean the difference between life and death.
This one is similar to number three — in order to ensure that you can properly defend yourself, you never want to be caught without a gun. Even if you are going somewhere where you doubt you’ll have to use it, like a bathroom or a closet, bring it with you. You never know when you’ll need it.
Even if the rule of law is nonexistent, it’s important that you try your best to maintain a sense of morality. Using a gun for self-defense is one thing, but going out and shooting at rioters simply because no one can tell you not to is a bad idea. Follow the rules and be smart.
